Position Overview

California Solar Electric Company is seeking a full-time person for commercial solar sales & design. This is an
inside/outside sales position with a desk space in our downtown Grass Valley office. The ideal candidate will have
business-to-business sales experience and excitement about the solar industry. S/he will have a hunger to learn and
grow in a fast-paced, rapidly growing industry, as well as have an interest in the worker-owned co-op business model.

Full Time: (32-40 hrs/wk), with options for 4 or 5-day work week, primarily office hours, not work-from-home
Min. Experience: Sales Experience preferred but not necessary. Solar Experience preferred but not necessary. Computer Proficiency required, and ability to legally drive as well as safely scale ladders and walk on roofs a must.

Responsibilities:

● Commercial lead generation through various channels (i.e. past client network, speaking
engagements, tabling at booth events, personal efforts, rep at community events, etc.)
● Intake and pre-qualification of commercial leads via phone, email, in-person
● Travel to clients’ properties for technical site visits and sales calls, consulting about solar and its
benefits (primarily in a ~50 mile radius, with an emphasis on Nevada County and Placer County)
● Designing complete up-to-code PV systems from start to finish & helping prepare design documents
● Accurately quote contract prices based on variables specific to each installation
● Putting together presentations and proposals, in both hard copy and in digital formats
● Pre-qualifying customers for solar financing
● Closing deals and working towards getting signed contracts from clients
● Attending weekly sales meetings and consistently achieving sales goals set by management
● Continuing solar education through company training and outside sources
● Understand competitive landscape and provide timely and thoughtful feedback to sales management
● Display dedication to responsiveness and professional communication to customers & co-workers

Desired Skills and Experience:

● Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
● Entrepreneurship and the ability to work with some autonomy
● Proven track record in sales, or aptitude and willingness to learn
● Ability to register as a CSLB Home Improvement Salesperson

● Experience walking on roofs strongly preferred
● Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Google Apps, Google Earth and
CRM Databases
● Strong communication skills across different media with a particular focus on presentation skills
● An ability to interpret key metrics and use them to inform action
● CRM and data entry experience
● Solar industry and market knowledge preferred
● Highly organized and process-oriented
● Have excellent attention to detail
● Have proficient professional writing skills (punctuation, syntax, grammar, and spelling)
● Be good at math and juggling lots of numbers
● Be able to understand and explain somewhat complicated financial terms and structures (i.e. tax
codes, loans, utility rate plans, payback periods, etc.)

● Reliable & presentable personal vehicle, Valid Driver’s License, Clean driving record
● Ability to safely climb up and down ladders of various heights, and on and off of roofs of all types
